We cannot believe it is already March! Our FSTA Fusion teams have been working hard for the first half of the indoor soccer season and have had a very successful season so far.
The last weekend of January, our U18 and U16 Fusion Girls and our U14 Fusion Boys teams competed at the Bob Rathwell Memorial Tournament. Our U18 Girls competed in the U19 division and took home first place, while our U16 Girls finished in third place. The U14 Boys also had a competitive weekend, but did not finish in medal position.
This past weekend, some of our FSTA Fusion players also competed with the Ottawa Futsal Club's U16 Girls Ontario Futsal Cup team. The team faced tough competition against two OPDL and two Regional teams. Their first game against Oakville Soccer Club's OPDL team, who finished in second place overall, finished as a 2-0 loss for OFC. The second game against Caledon's OPDL team, who finished as tournament champions, resulted in a 2-1 loss for OFC. The third game against West Ottawa Soccer's Regional team resulted in a 3-2 win for OFC. Finally, in their final game against Richmond Hill's Regional team, OFC finished with a 2-2 tie. Overall, the tournament allowed our players to compete against high level competition and reflect on their level of play compared to other Ontario clubs.
Regular season futsal games and training continue through to the end of April. Good luck to all our FSTA Fusion teams in their upcoming games and end of season competitions!
